These two pictures were done over digital photos I'd taken of myself. I'd struck somewhat disgusting poses, so I went on to up the scale of ugliness when I manipulated them. I changed the faces a-la the Egyptian pantheon, with silhouettes reminiscent of the filter feeding pterosaur Gnathosaurus and the enigmatic whorl-tooth shark Helicoprion. With the figures are always photographing themselves through a mirror, I wanted to convey how people are prone to over-seeing their undesirable parts; in the end sometimes assuming themselves to be monsters that they are not. No matter how others see us, we can always look worse-to ourselves.

These two pictures were exhibited in Catania Arte Fiera 2005 , Italy.
